Rafting is the essential activity of the Barcelonnette valley.
Coming from the United States in the 80s, rafting made its appearance in France, on the Ubaye river! And yes, Rafting activity has been anchored in our mountains for 40 years. The Village of Lauzet has become the heart of whitewater activity in Ubaye. The river offers water sports enthusiasts a trip through the Gorges and the passage under the Roman bridge, so much so that the Ubaye is today one of the French rafting spots (see European) the most appreciated by amateurs 😉.
The Lauzet Village allows water sports enthusiasts to have fun and enjoy the surrounding nature.
Ubaye seduces for its landscapes and its thrilling rapids, which vary from category II to VI. It is on this river that white water takes on its full meaning.
Rafting periods on the Ubaye
The Ubaye is a natural river in the Southern Alps, which varies according to the seasons:
In spring
From April to June, the snow melts and the Ubaye is therefore saturated with water. It becomes a volume river, that is to say with big waves. The descent can be impressive! Don't worry, we have courses adapted for all levels !
In summer
From July to September, the activity becomes more technical on Ubaye. The rocks are more visible, the Ubaye remains a dynamic river and you will not have time to get bored!
